It is necessary also to become aware that underwater photography obeys imperatives which complexify the task compared to terrestrial photography. Some parameters must be taken indeed into account since one wishes to go a little further in taking underwater photos : the auto focus on your camera has its limits. One of the essential parameters is obviously light which decreases with depth and which consequently, requires resorting to an illumination as soon as one exceeds approximately 12 meters. It is one of the reasons for which I think that this depth already offers a space of pleasure and escape amply sufficient for the freedivers photographers. Practice of underwater photography First, it seems essential to me to acquire ease, as much in the handling of ones camera as in ones movements under water, because taking underwater photos implies going down. Photography on the surface is not impossible, but it is likely to give very average results if it is not carried out at very shallow depth or if it is not aimed at a flatfish like a Ray.
