Underwater photography and free diving
For Photography
Still a little while ago, material for underwater photography reached prices which restricted usage to some impassioned amateurs, in a large majority of cases they were scuba divers. These cameras were all of the 35mm type, they were watertight compacts already very expensive and yet very limited in their adjustment possibilities, or many watertight reflex or “traditional” cameras placed in a housing manufactured by a specialist. With the arrival of numerical, one now finds compact apparatuses equipped with very interesting possibilities of adjustments, as well as boxes adapted especially by their manufacturer. The price of such camera which has not ceased to fall, makes them now accessible to a very great number of users. In this context, one can imagine that more and more often, this acquisition will also benefit occasional practitioners - or - not freediving.
THE MATERIAL
For freediving
Fins, a mask and a snorkel are largely sufficient in the beginning. If one wishes to look further into the question, long fins which could give cramps to beginners will however make it possible to move quickly while saving oxygen. Then, a shorty or a full diving suit will prolong your pleasure beyond the summer (in Europe in any case).
Full equipment makes it possible to dive all year round, even in France!

As far as I am concerned, after having had 2 compact 35mms, I now use a bridge camera (5 megzpixels, aperture 1.8 ) , a watertight housing and a 20mm lens.
